AZOKARTEAN is an exhibition project showcasing artists’ work on empty market stalls at the municipal markets in Bilbao.

The aim of the AZOKARTEAN project is to help publicise local artists’ work, giving them a new experience and context from which to promote themselves and their art: the city’s public municipal markets.

At the same time, the initiative seeks to encourage consumption at local markets by providing an additional attraction: an art exhibition that can be enjoyed while visitors shop for food.

The participating artists were selected in collaboration with the BilbaoArte Foundation (FBA).
