Defender of design and internally renowned speaker. She was named one of the 30 young female entrepreneurs under the age of 30 by the Inc. Magazine, included in the Fast Company list of the most influential women in technology, and named as a National Geographic emerging explorer in 2012. Case is currently exploring the future of the web economy and payment for its creators with a grant from the Mozzila Foundation. In her field of study, cyborg anthropology, she has spent several years exploring the interaction between humans and technology and how this is changing everyday life and society. Author of books such as ”Calm Technology, Design for the Next Generation Device”’ and “A Kids Book About Technology”, at the BBDW21 she will discuss her ideas about how design, technology and other ingredients for technological development must interact to serve the needs of humans and the planet.

Service and interaction designer for the Finnish Ministry of the Interior, she produces and directs the successful podcast on design for social change “Diseño y Diáspora”, with more than 250 episodes. She has wide experience in the design of services, always under a participatory framework. At the BBDW21 she will talk about her “personal recipe” between paid professional practice, in public administration, and the activist and altruist professional practice, combining the knowledge acquired in both practices. She does so with the aim of creating a more sustainable, open and fair world.

Designer and hybrid researcher at Hybridoa, she focusses on the potential of “biopractices” and the media for producing new knowledge and highlighting the intimate interdependences between humans, “more than humans” and the ecologies in which we are immersed. Her practice is a combination of design research, “do-it-yourself” biology and digital or experimental media, combined with the open-code philosophy. On her “return home”, the designer from Barakaldo will describe her career from design to her latest project, “Mari Mutare” (a trans-disciplinary design research project about biocompatible prostheses) and her professional transformation from an industrial designer with experience in the automation and aeronautical sector to a hybrid maker, designer and researcher.
